Severn Wye and the seven local authorities in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire have successfully been awarded £3 million to spend on first time central heating systems for homes most at need in the area.
We are supporting households to become more energy efficient by administering grants to fit gas central heating systems with energy efficient condensing combination boilers. This includes supporting people who currently heat their homes with storage heaters, plug in heaters, open fires or single gas fires.
The key objectives of the fund are to help people save on their energy bills and reduced the incidence of fuel poverty by making people's homes more efficient.
The £3 million fund was awarded to a consortium of organisations, led by South Gloucestershire Council, following a successful bid to the Department of Energy and Climate Change's (DECC) Central Heating Fund in early 2015.
If you do not have central heating and meet the qualifying criteria this could be an ideal opportunity to obtain funding for gas central heating. To find out more, call the Warm and Well advice line on 0800 500 3076.
Q. What has surprised you about this project?
Just how many households are still living without any form of central heating in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. This funding will help to reduce that number and make more people more comfortable in their homes.
Q. What are you most proud of?
Being part of a consortium that in working as a team has been awarded such a significant funding bid, this will make a huge difference to so many people.
